What is Medical Model Adult Day Health Care?
Adult Day Health Care – known as DayTyme at Elcor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center – is a medicaid approved individualized program that provides an alternative to full-time nursing home placement or being home alone. DayTyme provides medical supervision and social opportunities by day, while keeping home and family ties together during the evenings and weekends. In short, it is a modern, caring answer to a challenge faced by a great many families who arc concerned for their loved ones.
Who uses Adult Day Health Care?
The Adult Day Health Care Program, offering services that range from active rehabilitation to social and health-related care, is for older persons, younger disabled adults and their families, or those responsible for their care. The program provides a variety of health and social services in a friendly, family setting, enhancing the daily lives of the participants, and permitting their continued involvement in the community.
What Activities and Program’s does Adult Day Health Care Offer?
DayTyme consists of a well-balanced schedule of daily activities and supportive care and is individually designed to meet the needs of each person. Operating from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday, DayTyme provides:
- Availability of therapies including physical, occupational, speech and recreational. Reality orientation and motivational therapy are also included.
- Discussion of current topics, and special features in the participants’ fields of interest.
- Nutritional snacks and a full meal, supervised by a licensed dietician.
- Quiet rooms for leisure hours.
- Podiatry, dentistry, nursing, dietary, social, religious, and personal care and grooming services, including a fully staffed and equipped beauty parlor.
- Religious services.
- Colorful holiday events and activities.
- Medical and social evaluation and intervention.
- The complete facilities of Elcor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center – a bright, modern and attractive rehabilitation and health center in a quiet, restful setting, conveniently located adjacent to Route 17 and easily accessible from any part of New York’s Southern Tier.

DayTyme is a program that involves individuals, family and the community in a team effort approach to keep elderly and disabled residents in the community and home with their families. Adult Day Health Care provides specialized services which motivate spirits and rekindles interest in health and activity.
DayTyme is a medical, social, and family experience in which staff and community members laugh and participate in crafts, church services, exercise workouts and yet maintain focus on the physical and mental capacity of all participants.
Elcor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has been a member of the community for over 50 years and relishes its role in providing thought-provoking, helpful and enjoyable programs that remember the needs of the individual.
Transportation
Transportation to and from Elcor can be arranged by Elcor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Many of our members take advantage of this opportunity.
Your Elcor DayTyme Team
At Elcor, we have a skilled Day Care team — experienced in and dedicated to meeting the needs of our guests and their families. Members of the team include:
- Program Director, a registered nurse who supervises the medical, physical, and social requirements of each registrant. An individual care plan is established to meet the unique needs of each participant.
- Social Worker, who ensures that the psycho-social needs of each of our registrants is met, as well as plans, organizes and directs our recreational program. Our Social Worker maintains close contact with the family and community resources.
- Nursing personnel who take charge of the Range of Motion and walking programs.
- Nursing Rehabilitation Assistants who work with the rehabilitation team to improve or maintain physical independence. These certified nursing assistants also provide personal care services to DayTyme clients.
Our team is thoroughly dedicated to providing the highest level of mental and physical stimulation for all of our registrants. The hours pass quickly as Elcor’s DayTyme guests relax or are busy with a variety of fun and stimulating activities.
